Removals to Switzerland

MOVING TO SWITZERLAND WITH MYCHEAPREMOVALS

It is our priority to make your removal to Switzerland as stress-free an experience as possible.

1. Before you move on to the Instant Removal Quote form, you need to calculate the approximate volume of your load. You can choose between the variety of options: 5m³, 10m³, 15m³, 20m³ or 30m³ and above, as well as some non-standard options (ask our Customer Service Specialist for more details – 01942 938 222, 01942 409 822 or 01942 409 821).
2. The smallest volumes – 5, 10 and 15 m³ –  are part load options, which means that you will share the loading space of the van with other customers. Also, the smallest options require some flexibility from you as it comes to the collection time slot. The bigger volume options – 20m³, 30m³ and above- are full van options, which enable you to choose the exact date and time of the pick-up.
In these options, you will not share the van with anyone else, so the delivery time will be shorter than in part-load options. If you are not sure which volume option you need, you can check our VISUALISATION OF EACH VOLUME.
3. As you know, the volume you require, it is time to ask for a quotation. You can either send it to yourself by filling in the Instant Removal Quote at the top of this page or by calling our Customer Service Specialist on 01942 938 222, 01942 409 822 or 01942 409 821.
An email with the quotes for all available volumes should appear in your email inbox a moment after you click the button EMAIL ME QUOTE. You can decide which volume to choose anytime, as the email with quotes is valid for a few months. You will also need this email for online booking, so make sure you don’t lose it.
4. If you want to book a removal with us, please go to the email with the quote and click the button BOOK NOW next to the volume option you need. After that, our website will guide you through our online booking process. In order to secure your order, you will be asked to pay 10% of the total price as a deposit.
Next, our Customer Service will contact you to confirm the addresses of collection and delivery. What is more, the Customer Service will be at your disposal from Monday to Friday between 9:00 am and 05:00 pm, in order to answer all of your questions.
5. At least one day before the collection date, you will get a message with all the information concerning the collection and delivery, as well as the van and driver assigned to your move. Our driver will help you with loading and unloading your goods. The first hour of our driver’s assistance if free, yet if you need some additional time of his help, you will need to pay him directly £50 for every extra hour.

Removals to Switzerland – frequently asked questions

How much does it cost to move from the UK to Switzerland?

The price depends on two things: how much you are moving (the volume in cubic metres) and the distance between collection and delivery. See the example prices above, or use the Instant Removal Quote form for an exact price for your route. Our prices are final. They already include customs fees and other applicable taxes, the ferry, fuel and transit insurance.

How long does delivery to Switzerland take?

If you book a whole van (20 or 30 m³), your goods are usually delivered within 24 hours of loading. Part-load moves (5, 10 or 15 m³), where your belongings share the van with other customers’ goods, usually take 3 to 5 days. Switzerland is outside the EU, so customs checks can occasionally add time. We keep you updated throughout.

What documents do I need to move my belongings to Switzerland?

Switzerland is not in the EU, so your belongings go through customs. You will need:

• an inventory list of your items with their dimensions, weight and value
• a copy of your passport or ID
• proof of your new address in Switzerland, for example a rental contract, utility bill or bank statement
• proof that you have lived at your UK address for the last 12 months, for example a council tax bill, utility bill, payslip or tax return
• the completed Swiss customs form 18.44 (“Customs clearance of household effects in connection with household removal”). We attach it to your quote email.

Please hand the original documents to the driver at collection.

Is it more expensive to live in Switzerland than in the UK?

Yes. Switzerland is one of the most expensive countries in Europe, especially for housing, food and eating out, and Zurich and Geneva are the priciest cities. Wages are higher too. For a detailed comparison, read our guide Moving to Switzerland – living costs in Zurich vs London.
